Got married right
out of High School to Jana Milts in August of '72. Mike Kaulback was my Best
Man. Worked in a machine shop for a few years while living in Riverside,
California and became a Class A truck driver. I drove milk tankers
throughout the western states. This led to my return to Pomona and a career
as a truck driver for GTE. I transferred to the residential phone
installation team in Cucamonga Ca. Jana and I were divorced in 79 or 80
while we were both employed by GTE in Pomona. She was an Engineering Clerk
and I was a Business Systems Installer. We have a wonderful daughter,
Christine Marie (Miller) Henry and are blessed with two Grandchildren,
Justin and Brianna Henry, now living in Horsehead NY.
I left GTE to work
in the emerging Business Communication explosion and the rapid expansion of
the Internet backbone. I was very fortunate to be employed by United
Technologies, Rolm, and IBM as it was a vehicle to an education and travel.
I took a buyout offer from IBM and moved from my home on Campus Ave in
Upland, to Gold Hill, Oregon in the spring of 1992.
I became an electric
contractor which led to engineering and project management contracts during
the dot-com boom. It was a good ride!
I re-married in 2000
to Linda Belle Cogdill, formerly from San Pedro Ca.
We live a simple
life on our 20 acres in the hills, ironically no cell service, no wifi, and
dialup internet.
Linda has three
grown children and four grandchildren so that's six grandchildren between
us.
Life has had it's
ups and downs like all the rest of us but we feel blessed and happy.
I have been
medically retired since 2005 due to a cervical spinal injury. I am still
able to function although I have limited use of my hands and feet. I kinda
feel like Clyde (Clint Eastwoods orangutan) when walking or giving the
finger.
I am an antique
Motorcycle Enthusiast and have a 1947 Indian and sidecar awaiting final
restoration.
I am sort of
devastated to hear of Jeff Miller and Jim Barragan as they were so
unstoppable from our neighborhood rivalries to football at Emerson to our
high school antics.
I hope you are all
happy and wiser.
