Memorial from Evelyn (Walker) Mollet

I married Barney York right out of high school.  We had a son, Hank (4/28/74).  I worked for various departments in the State of California.  Barney and I were divorced in 1975.

I remarried in 1978 (William Mollet, Canoga Park '68).  We have lived in various places including most of the Pomona Valley, Sacramento, Palm Desert, La Quinta, California; and Rockville, Maryland.  I now work for a large insurance defense law firm in Downtown Los Angeles as a legal secretary.  I have been a legal secretary for approximately 15 years.  I really enjoy the law and work closely with "my" three attorneys to handle our cases.

ADDITIONALLY:  I'd like to tell a little about Barney York

After we were married, Barney worked at Carl's Jr. on Indian Hill.  He helped to open that store.  He then went to work for Freightliner in Chino.  He really enjoyed his working there.

Barney then suffered a nervous breakdown during our short marriage.  I was four months' pregnant at the time.  He was diagnosed as a schizophrenic and was hospitalized.  I was advised that he could become violent to me and our child.  After much prayer and crying, I decided the safe thing to do would be to divorce him and try and make a new life for myself and our child.  Barney remarried after our divorce and had another son.  His name is Kevin (1984, I think).  Barney's son lives in La Verne with his mother.  In the 1980's Barney committed suicide, I guess life just got to be too much for him to handle.  He was cremated and his ashes were spread.  His mother died of cancer just a couple of years ago.

Barney was a blessing to my life when we were together.  He was never able to get to know his oldest son, as the doctor's advised me that it was not wise to permit visitation.  His oldest son is the spitting image of Barney and also inherited his gentle goodness.

To this day I miss the man I first married and thought some of the classmates he knew might want to know something about the man he grew to be.  If they have any questions, they are free to e-mail me and I'll share whatever information I have.
